The morning of: Try our chili-ginger pancakes as a Christmas morning meal.
New Year’s Eve tipple: Ring in the New Year with a special Champagne cocktail that has an extra dose of flavor thanks to, you guessed it, chilies.
In a small saucepan, bring 1 fresh red chili (such as Fresno or Thai) and ½ cup honey to a gentle simmer; let cook for 2 minutes. Remove the chili and let cool. In a shaker filled with ice, combine 2 ounces honey syrup, 4 ounces bourbon, and 4 to 6 dashes Angostura bitters. Shake well until chilled, then strain into 4 Champagne flutes, dividing equally between each. Top each glass with Champagne and garnish with a lemon twist.
